Media lawyers and human rights organisations have expressed concern over the possible restriction of journalists' access to MPs in the corridors of the Kurultai. In their view, the new requirements should have a clear legal basis, be officially adopted and published in advance.

In the Atyrau region, three new schools were brought into operation on the first day of the academic year under the national project "Keleshek mektebi" — two in the villages of the Kurmangazy district and one in the town of Kulsary. Ministry of Agriculture has confirmed the export of grain under fictitious transactions and illegal bonus payments from the budget at the Karaganda Agricultural Experimental Station, subordinate to NANOC.
