The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations has reported the spread of a new serotype of the foot-and-mouth disease virus, SAT1, in East Asia, following official notifications from China and Mongolia. The organisation has allocated $400,000 for emergency support to seven countries in the region.

The seven largest pawnbroker chains control around two-thirds of the secured loan market in Kazakhstan. Over the past two years, the industry’s profit has more than doubled, while the biggest players are increasing their presence on the stock market and expanding their business abroad.

For January–April 2026, Kazakhstan's imports grew by 11.3%, while exports increased by 5%. In trade with EAEU countries, imports rose by 24.1%, with deliveries of dairy products and grain from Union states exceeding $258 million over four months.

In Kazakhstan, 568 CCTV cameras are focused on identifying sites of illegal waste storage. This is stated in a written response from the department responsible for environmental control, and it directly contradicts an earlier statement made at a press conference that such cameras had been deemed impractical.

At the Asian Rowing Championships in Turkestan, a conflict occurred between Timur Alikhanov, a coach at the Turkestan Regional Specialised Youth Sports School of the Olympic Reserve, and Daulet Sultanbekov, a state coach of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Following the incident, both parties have contacted the police, and the circumstances of what happened are being clarified.
