Employees of the Karaganda Agricultural Experimental Station (KarSAES) named after A.F. Khristenko, subordinate to the NJSC "National Agrarian Research and Educational Centre" (NAREC), have reported months-long delays in salary payments and the absence of mandatory contributions. The enterprise's employees appealed to the authorities with a request to investigate the situation and secure repayment of the debt.

HOW LONG SALARIES HAVE BEEN DELAYED

According to msu.city, employees at the enterprise in the village of Tsentralnoye in the Bukhar-Zhyrau district claim that they received their last full salary in June, and that by the time of their appeal the debt had reached its fourth month. Due to the lack of payments, the workers say they have been forced to borrow money for food, coal, utilities, loan repayments and their children's expenses.

One of the employees said she had asked for an advance to pay for accommodation for her child who is studying in the city, but the matter was not resolved. Other workers reported difficulties buying food, medicines and essentials for their children.

WHAT AMOUNT OF DEBT THE EMPLOYEES CITED

During a conversation with the enterprise's management, a figure of 52 million tenge in debt for July and August was mentioned. At the same time, employees said that since April no contributions to medical insurance or pension payments had been made.

Employees claim they repeatedly approached management, but the situation did not change. One employee also said that in response to a complaint about having no money for food, he was allegedly told to "eat potatoes".

WHY THE WORKERS APPEALED TO THE PRESIDENT

Having failed to resolve the issue at enterprise level, the employees recorded a collective appeal to the authorities. They are asking the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, to intervene, organise an investigation and ensure the debt is paid.

CONTEXT

Delayed salaries are not the first problem KarSAES has faced. In June 2026, the results of a state audit of the enterprise became known: the Ministry of Agriculture (MoA) confirmed violations in the shipment of 1,144,780 kg of fifth-class wheat and grain waste. The buyers listed in the documents were private individuals, but they stated that they had not purchased or removed the products. The sum of the identified violations exceeded 10.1 million tenge.

The audit also confirmed violations in the awarding of bonuses for Independence Day: the station's former head was given a severe reprimand, and the bonus order was cancelled. At the same time, the ministry did not confirm reports of pressure on employees or violations in personnel appointments.

Problems at organisations subordinate to NAREC have also previously arisen around the Research and Production Centre for Grain Farming (RPCGF) named after A.I. Barayev.

In May 2026, the centre's chief accountant, Gulnar Kabdina, appealed to state bodies, alleging financial violations and personnel pressure after the appointment of a new director, Bauyrzhan Kalibayev. According to her, she was transferred from the position of chief accountant to that of an ordinary accountant, and three accounting employees submitted resignations.

Later, the MoA reported the creation, jointly with NAREC, of a working group to examine the appeals received. Separately, the ministry confirmed that in December 2025 it had conducted an audit of the centre, but did not disclose the specific results of that inspection.

However, the story continued in court: the management of the Barayev Centre demanded that FBK recover 2 million tenge for publications about the alleged violations, insisting that the information in the materials was untrue. The claim was filed against the publication that covered the employee's appeal and the state bodies' response to it.
