The National Security Committee (KNB) reported the elimination of international and regional drug supply channels into Kazakhstan. Since April 2026, agency officers have detained suspects involved in drug trafficking and distribution, and have seized large quantities of prohibited substances and precursors.

The government has approved the construction of a pharmaceutical plant worth 32.5 billion tenge in the Almaty region.
