On 20 July 2026, two forest fires were recorded in blocks 55 and 65 of the Suburban Forestry of the Semipalatinsk branch of the state forest nature reserve 'Semey Ormany'. According to preliminary data, the area of each source is approximately 2 hectares, and the cause of the fire could have been a lightning strike.

ANPZ was fined 6.9 million tenge for violating sanitary regulations

A fine of 6 million 920 thousand tenge has been imposed on the Atyrau Oil Refinery (AOR) for violating sanitary and epidemiological requirements. The company does not agree with the administrative penalty and is challenging it in court. Inspections were carried out following complaints from residents about an unpleasant odour and excessive hydrogen sulphide concentrations in the air.
