The Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan has put forward the first draft of a proposal to reduce the area of the Irgiz-Turgai State Nature Reserve for public discussion. The department intends to reduce the reserve by more than 20,000 hectares, reclassifying these lands as "reserve lands".
