The authorities of Kyrgyzstan have put forward for public discussion a draft amendment to the veterinary and sanitary requirements for producers of meat, milk and other products of animal origin. The document provides for tighter control over the use of antibiotics and the introduction of a product traceability system from farm to sale.

In the Almaty region, a 37-year-old man has been detained on suspicion of the fatal hit-and-run of his wife.

In the East Kazakhstan Region (EKR), unused agricultural land with a total area of 2,092.6 hectares has been returned to the state. The cadastral value of the plots amounted to 17.7 million tenge.

In the Aktobe region, an investigation has been concluded into a group suspected of illegally registering trucks and cars without paying mandatory fees. According to the investigation, the damage to the state amounted to 705 million tenge.

In Turkestan on 15 May, an informal summit of the Organisation of Turkic States (OTS) took place. President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev presented seven initiatives in the fields of digitalisation, space and culture, describing technological transformation as a priority for integration.

The "Kazspetsexport" structure of the Ministry of Defence put up for auction an AN-26 transport aircraft from 1980, deemed unfit for operation. Despite the emergency condition of the aircraft, the lot price more than tripled during the auction — from an estimated 8.2 million to 26 million tenge — but the result of the auction was later cancelled.

In the Turkestan region, a project is being implemented to artificially induce precipitation in order to increase reservoir levels and provide water for agricultural areas. Full-scale launch is scheduled for 17 May 2026.

A resident of Almaty has claimed that the Bostandyk district akimat used edited images in response to a complaint about rubbish near school No. 125. The post alleges that the rubbish in the photographs was removed using artificial intelligence (AI).
