In Almaty, the activities of a payment infrastructure belonging to three online casinos, through which players' money was accepted and processed, have been shut down. According to the investigation, the scheme used the bank accounts of 16 droppers, into which more than 110 million tenge was received.

In a house on the territory of the "Optimist" dacha community in Karaganda, the bodies of a 43-year-old man and a 55-year-old woman were discovered with gunshot wounds. Both of the deceased held prominent positions in the local dacha community - the man ran the association and worked as a lawyer, while the woman was an active community figure in the district, which places this story beyond the scope of an ordinary domestic incident.

How Astana airport came up with a new reason to deny the media.

Astana Airport refused to answer the Federal Bureau for Countering Corruption’s (FBRC) request concerning violations totalling 395.4 million tenge, citing a deficiency in the documents. After complaints to several agencies and a chain of referrals, the airport eventually sent a response, but continued to insist on its previous formal position, even though the Ministry of Culture and Information had by that point explicitly stated that the law contains no such requirement.

Agro Protein LLP: pseudo-activism in Akkol against the plant’s proven violations

On 17 August 2026, a video appeared on social media showing the "upcoming opening" of Agro Protein LLP in Akkol, although, according to government agencies as of the end of August, the plant is not officially operational. The FBK editorial team decided to investigate what exactly was being celebrated that evening and who is behind the active defence of the plant on social media.

The Housing and Utilities Department of Burabay District admitted to a violation of the law during the procurement of repairs to the KNB building.

The Housing and Communal Services and Housing Inspection Department of Burabay District concluded a direct contract for the repair of the National Security Committee building in Shchuchinsk. The Department of Internal State Audit for Akmola Region identified a violation of the law on public procurement in the selection of the procurement method. The head of the department acknowledged the violation and did not appeal the fine.

Veterinarians suggest naming the "unknown disease" in Kazakhstan "Tashimov's disease".

Doctor of Veterinary Sciences Gaisa Absatirov commented on Facebook on the cattle deaths in Atyrau Region. He noted that a diagnosis has not yet been established, but livestock are already undergoing preventive vaccination, and suggested naming unidentified diseases after the geography of the outbreak — for example, "Kenzek disease" or even "Tashimova disease".

After a request from the FB RC, the Ministry of Culture reminded Astana Airport of its obligation to respond to the media.

The Ministry of Culture and Information (MCI) of the Republic of Kazakhstan has responded to the request from the Bureau of Journalistic Investigations (BJI) regarding its assessment of Astana airport's refusal to comment on the circumstances of its own financial reporting. The ministry indicated that the law does not require media outlets to confirm the credentials of the editor-in-chief with each request, and it has sent a recommendatory letter to the airport urging compliance with legislation.
