The court has commuted the sentence of the former head of the National Chamber of Entrepreneurs (NCE) "Atameken", Ablai Myrzakhmetov. The Committee of the Criminal Enforcement System (CCES) confirmed that the punishment previously imposed on the convict has been replaced with a milder form.

The Ministry of Water Resources recognised violations at the Ileksky quarries

Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation of the Republic of Kazakhstan has for the first time confirmed violations at quarries in the floodplain of the Ilek River in the Aktobe region. Companies have been fined over 1.5 million tenge for illegal sand extraction and unauthorised blocking of the river channel. A comprehensive assessment of the impact on the hydrology of the Ilek is not provided for by the department.

The veterinary community has criticised the Ministry of Agriculture's position on foot-and-mouth disease.

Earlier, Minister of Agriculture Aydarbek Saparov stated that the epizootic situation in the country was favourable. Shortly afterwards, Chairman of the NGO "Veterinarians of the West Kazakhstan Region" Gaisa Absatirov called this claim untrue.

The Water Resources Regulation Committee has commented on the large-scale water discharges in the south of Kazakhstan.

The Committee insists that the Tasotkel Reservoir is fuller than it was this time last year, yet the question of the logic behind the discharges across the region as a whole remains open.
