In the village of Nogayty, Aktobe region, a fire station was ceremonially opened on 1 August. When hay caught fire on the farm of a local resident with a disability on 9 August, residents found the station closed and the fire engine without any crew.

In the Bulandinsky district of the Akmola region, the police have solved a series of thefts from a water supply infrastructure facility. According to the investigation, the suspects stole a diesel generator unit worth around 7 million tenge, and later — components for it worth more than 400 thousand tenge.

In Kazakhstan, the rules for rewarding citizens who report an impending, ongoing, or committed corruption offence have changed. The maximum amount of a one-off cash reward is 17.3 million tenge.

The Ministry of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development has commented on the circulating information about the sale on the darknet of a database containing personal data of Kazakhstani citizens. The department stated that there is as yet no confirmed data regarding a breach of e-government information systems or the acquisition of the database directly from eGov.

A darknet forum user under the handle shymzz13 has put up for sale a database which, according to their claim, contains the personal data of 15 million residents of Kazakhstan. The seller stated that they obtained the information after breaching the state service eGov.

A citizen of Kazakhstan has been extradited from Vietnam to face criminal prosecution for causing grievous bodily harm. The suspect is currently held in a pre-trial detention centre.

The Financial Monitoring Agency (FMA), with the assistance of Interpol from the Republic of Korea, has returned Ulan Baibolov to Kazakhstan, who had previously been placed on the international wanted list. According to the investigation, he was a member of an organised criminal group (OCG) whose activities were linked to the systematic evasion of taxes and other mandatory payments to the budget.

At the Bostandyk District Court No. 2 in Almaty, on 11 August 2026, the hearing of the criminal case against former ORDA editor-in-chief Gulnar Bazhkenova continued. In the morning, she did not appear at the session, after which the court ordered her to be brought before it by force.

The Information and Production Centre of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (IPC MIA) has announced procurements related to the production of documents totalling more than 24 billion tenge since the beginning of 2026. Among the materials are chip modules, polycarbonate, document paper, fluorescent thread and other components for passports and identity cards.
