How sand extraction is destroying the Ilek River in the Aktobe region
The FBK editorial office has received reports from residents of the Aktobe region concerned about the condition of the Ilek River. According to them, new quarries for the extraction of sand and sand-and-gravel mixtures are actively appearing along the floodplain. People fear that interference with the riverbed and floodplain system could have consequences not only for the ecology but also for the region's water supply.

A criminal case has been opened in the West Kazakhstan Region against the limited liability partnership "Baystone", which owes more than 1.8 billion tenge to the regional budget. The company received hundreds of millions from the budget to supply vegetables for the stabilisation fund, as well as a billion for the construction of a vegetable storage facility. However, neither the 'social' potatoes nor the facility itself ever materialised, and the funds were lost.

The victim in the case of Khasan Kasymbayev withdraws his claims against the defendant.

In the Talgar District Court, the criminal case against Khasan Kasymbayev and five accomplices continues to be heard. Kasymbayev is accused of causing grievous bodily harm to mixed martial arts coach Arman Alimov and of extorting money from Ayupzhan Tazhiyev in 2021.
