License plate numbers for rental e-scooters are being introduced in Kazakhstan

The Ministry of Internal Affairs has approved rules for identifying rental e-scooters in Kazakhstan. According to the order, kick-sharing operators will independently assign registration numbers to the devices and maintain their records. The new requirements will come into force on 1 July 2026 and apply only to commercial rental services.

Criminal investigation into fraud launched following film studio castings in Almaty

In Almaty, police are investigating a criminal case under the article “Fraud” following complaints from parents of children who took part in castings held by the film studio Jan Production. Families were offered the chance to take part in short film shoots for a fee of around 1.5 million tenge. According to the parents, after the money was paid, the shoots did not take place, and the company’s office turned out to be closed.

Violations of the labour rights of over 700 medical workers were identified in Taldykorgan.

The Taldykorgan city prosecutor’s office has revealed violations of labour rights among employees of the Taldykorgan City Multidisciplinary Hospital. It was established that permissible limits for overtime work were exceeded and that additional hours were incorrectly paid. The violations affected the rights of more than 700 medical workers.

In Kazakhstan, the rules for paying tolls on toll roads have been relaxed.

In Kazakhstan, payment rules for travelling on toll roads have been changed. The Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Kazakhstan has increased the voluntary payment period for individuals from 7 to 30 days. The new rules provide for a separate payment procedure for legal entities and will come into force 10 days after official publication.

Father and son were detained in connection with a drug laboratory case in the Akmola Region.

In the Akmola region, officers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs have shut down an underground laboratory producing synthetic drugs. During the special operation, a 54-year-old man and his 26-year-old son were detained. 200 kg of mephedrone, more than 2 tonnes of precursors, as well as laboratory equipment, were seized from illegal circulation.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kazakhstan has sent 51 stalking cases to court.

In Kazakhstan, 51 cases have been sent to court since criminal liability for stalking was introduced. According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, in 36 cases the suspects were placed in temporary detention facilities. The investigation is being conducted under Article 115-1 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan, which provides for liability for unlawful persecution.

A foreigner has been acquitted in a fatal road traffic accident case in Aktobe

The specialised inter-district criminal court of Aktobe region has acquitted a 33-year-old Kyrgyz citizen, Ramazan Infurov, in the case of a road traffic accident on the Samara – Shymkent highway, in which four people died. The jury concluded that there was no element of a criminal offence. The court also recognised the defendant’s right to compensation for harm caused by unlawful criminal prosecution.

Residents of at least six villages in the Sarysu district of the Zhambyl region have faced an acute shortage of irrigation water. As a result, pastures have dried up, and livestock keeping has become economically unviable. According to villagers, livestock numbers have nearly halved in recent years.
