On 23 April, a heavy downpour occurred in the city of Kentau, Turkestan Region, leading to flooding of streets, markets and the entrances to residential buildings. In some areas, water levels reached 10–25 cm. Rescue workers and municipal services were deployed to deal with the aftermath.

Kazakhstan's oil and gas sector saw a 40% increase in accidents in the first quarter of 2026.

In Kazakhstan, seven accidents at oil and gas facilities were recorded in the first quarter, which is 40% higher than the previous year's level. State authorities carried out 226 inspections, identified over 5,000 violations, and suspended the operation of 312 hazardous facilities.

Investment income of the UAPF in Kazakhstan decreased by 240 billion tenge

The investment income of the UAPF fell by 240 billion tenge in March. The National Bank of Kazakhstan explained the change by the strengthening of the tenge against the dollar, as around 40% of pension assets are denominated in foreign currency. At the same time, since the start of the year the indicator has remained positive, exceeding 270 billion tenge.

Almaly District Court of the city of Almaty has heard a criminal case against three former employees of Air Astana and FlyArystan airlines, accused of embezzlement and money laundering. Two defendants received sentences of 8 years and 6 months each, and a third received 9 years' imprisonment with confiscation of property. The court's verdict has not yet entered into legal force.

The State Revenue Committee has clarified the procedure for monitoring mobile transfers by individuals. Banks will transmit information to the tax authorities when three criteria are simultaneously met: regularity of transfers, number of senders, and total amount. Automatic account blocking or closure of transactions is not envisaged.
