In Ust-Kamenogorsk, nearly all of the apple orchard in Samal Park, planted as part of a social project in 2022, has been destroyed. The initiative's founder, Sergei Brodsky, stated that in his estimation, 99% of the trees have been damaged by mice and have not survived. The project was previously presented to the then mayor of the city, Zhaksylyk Omar, and local residents helped care for the orchard and took part in community clean-up days.

A camel among rubbish was caught on video near a landfill in the Mangystau region.

In the Mangystau region, blogger Azamat Sarsenbaev filmed a video showing a camel wandering among rubbish near a solid household waste landfill in the Munaily district. After the video was published, the Department of Natural Resources reported that the waste had been scattered following a fire and strong winds, and that clean-up work is already underway at the site.

Russia may halt the transit of Kazakh oil to Germany

Russia from 1 May ceases the transit of Kazakh oil to Germany via the Druzhba pipeline. Kazakhstan has received written notification from the company Transneft. The route was used for supplying raw materials to the refinery in Schwedt, and in the first quarter of 2026, exports along this direction increased to 730,000 tonnes. The reasons for the halt and the timeline for a possible resumption of supplies have not been specified.

Kazakhstan has changed the procedure for accepting foreigners for permanent residence from 10 April 2026.
