An employee of the Zhanuya Family Support Centre in the Zhetysu region has been found guilty of committing domestic violence against his wife. The court sentenced him to 200 hours of community service.
WHAT THE COURT ESTABLISHED
According to the Zhetysu regional prosecutor's office, the criminal case was heard by the Karatal district court. At the time of the offence, the convicted man was working as a lawyer at the Zhanuya Family Support Centre, which provides assistance to victims of domestic violence.
Despite his professional role in protecting the rights of victims, he committed unlawful acts against his own wife.
HOW THE PROCEEDINGS UNFOLDED
During the trial, the state prosecutor from the Karatal district prosecutor's office proved the defendant's guilt.
The court found the man guilty of committing domestic violence and sentenced him to 200 hours of community service. The verdict has entered into legal force.
WHAT THE PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE SAID
The Zhetysu regional prosecutor's office stated that the protection of citizens' rights and the enforcement of the principle of inevitability of liability for acts of domestic violence are carried out regardless of the offender's position, status or place of work.
The authority also stressed that domestic violence is unacceptable and entails liability under the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Work to ensure the rule of law and protect the rights of victims remains under the oversight of the prosecutor's office.
