From February 2026, Russian authorities have been carrying out mass livestock culls in the Novosibirsk and Omsk regions, the Altai Republic and a number of other regions. The official reason is mutated pasteurellosis, although experts and industry sources suggest that foot-and-mouth disease may be the real cause.

The FBIK editorial office has received responses from state bodies and the contractor regarding the operation of automated measurement stations in Kazakhstan.
