In the Aktogay district of Pavlodar region, on the territory of Aqtogai Milk LLP, an accident occurred in which 6 people died. Another man was hospitalised with moderate carbon dioxide poisoning.
WHAT HAPPENED
The tragedy occurred on 20 July in the village of Zholaman on the territory of Aqtogai Milk LLP. According to preliminary data, workers were repairing an electric pump in a sewer manhole. As a result of the incident, 6 people died at the scene.
As reported by the Police Department of Pavlodar Region, a pre-trial investigation has been launched into the deaths.
According to emergency services, the call was received at 12:01. Medics confirmed the deaths of men born in 1963, 1975, 1983, 1998, 2006 and 2009. The youngest victim was 16 years old.
WHAT IS KNOWN ABOUT THE INJURED PERSON
According to the Department of Health of Pavlodar Region, a man born in 1988 was taken to Aktogay District Hospital.
The department reported that the patient was hospitalised with a diagnosis of "moderate carbon dioxide poisoning". He is receiving necessary medical care. It was also reported that there is no need to transport him to the regional centre.
WHAT THE POLICE REPORTED
The Police Department of Pavlodar Region reported that a criminal case has been initiated.
The department stated that no further information is subject to disclosure in accordance with Article 201 of the Criminal Procedure Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
An investigative team is working at the scene. Law enforcement agencies are establishing the circumstances of the incident. According to preliminary information, they will also have to check compliance with occupational safety requirements.
