A criminal case has been opened in the Turkestan Region following the death of an elderly woman. Her 40-year-old son is suspected of committing the crime.
WHAT HAPPENED
According to the Telegram channel «HALYQSTAN», the crime occurred in the Tulkubas District. The elderly woman was found in her own home with stab wounds.
Her 40-year-old son has been detained on suspicion of committing the crime. It is also reported that the suspect has a disability.
WHAT IS KNOWN ABOUT THE INVESTIGATION
According to the Department of Police (DP) of the Turkestan Region, a criminal case has been registered regarding the death of the resident.
The suspect has been taken into custody. A pre-trial investigation is currently underway.
CONTEXT
It will be recalled that another high-profile domestic violence case was previously heard in the Turkestan Region. In September 2025, police detained a resident of the Shardara District after a video was published on social media showing him beating his elderly father.
Later, the court found the man guilty of systematically torturing his father and intentionally causing him moderate bodily harm. In January 2026, the court of first instance sentenced him to 5 years in prison, but following an appeal by the prosecutor's office, the sentence was increased to 6 years.
