The shipment of subsidised diesel fuel for the harvesting campaign has begun in Kazakhstan. In the Ministry of Agriculture, they stated that the drought and hot weather, according to available estimates, have not affected the expected harvest, and the price of socially significant bread remains stable.

HOW MUCH FUEL HAS BEEN ALLOCATED TO FARMERS

According to Deputy Minister of Agriculture Azat Sultanov, based on regional requests, 402,000 tonnes of subsidised diesel fuel have been allocated to farmers for harvesting work.

He stated that the cost of fuel for agricultural producers will be 12–15% lower than the price at filling stations. Shipment has already begun to regions that have started the harvesting campaign.

Sultanov also stated that the Ministry of Energy has committed to ensuring the supply of the entire requested volume of fuel. According to him, even if the price of fuel and lubricants rises, the cost of subsidised diesel fuel for farmers will remain unchanged.

WHAT WAS REPORTED ABOUT THE DROUGHT AND HARVEST

According to the Deputy Minister, the drought and hot weather have not affected the expected harvest figures.

He noted that for the state, the maximum volume of harvested grain is important, whereas for farmers, a dry year with a smaller harvest can be financially more beneficial due to higher product prices.

WHAT WAS SAID ABOUT BREAD AND SUGAR PRICES

The Deputy Minister stated that prices for socially significant bread and vegetable group products will remain at a controlled level.

As an example, he noted that with the current price of grain at around 90,000 tenge per tonne and at a price of around 180,000 tenge per tonne four years ago, the price of socially significant bread remained at 110 tenge. According to Sultanov, the state has the necessary mechanisms to maintain this price.

The Deputy Minister also reported that the rise in sugar prices is temporary.

WHAT IS KNOWN ABOUT DIESEL FUEL SUPPLIES

Answering journalists' questions, Azat Sultanov stated that the ban on the export of diesel fuel from Russia, according to him, has not affected the supply of fuel to Kazakh farmers.

According to the Deputy Minister, the entire volume of subsidised diesel fuel required for the harvesting campaign will be supplied in accordance with the commitments of the Ministry of Energy.
