Economist Eldar Shamsutdinov has spoken of difficulties when trying to cancel services from JSC Kazakhtelecom. According to him, the disconnection procedure was accompanied by additional charges, requirements for a personal visit to a specific office, and the impossibility of terminating the contract remotely.
WHAT HAPPENED
According to a post by Eldar Shamsutdinov, he had not used the internet for almost a year, keeping the connection as a backup, after which he decided to cancel the service.
The economist said that during his enquiry, he was told the contract had been automatically renewed. He was also presented with charges, including a fine and compensation for previously given discounts.
WHAT ARE THE ECONOMIST'S COMPLAINTS
Shamsutdinov claims that even after agreeing to pay the amounts invoiced, he was still unable to cancel the service. According to him, his request was not accepted either remotely or at the nearest branch.
As the author notes, to terminate the contract he was asked to visit the office in Talgar, to which the contract had previously been linked. He estimates the distance to the office to be approximately 30 km.
WHAT DREW THE MAIN CRITICISM
The economist believes that it is significantly easier to sign up for the company's services than to cancel them. He points out that a connection can be arranged by phone or via an app, whereas disconnection, he says, requires a personal visit, studying the contract terms, and correspondence.
Shamsutdinov also criticised the methods of promoting additional services and stated that, in his view, such practices create artificial obstacles to cancelling a service.
