In July 2026, the Border Service of the National Security Committee (BS NSC) reported the detention of 4,975 violators of the Republic of Kazakhstan's legislation in the border area and the prevention of 2,476 instances of the illegal movement of goods and cargo across the state border. The total value of the prevented illegal movement exceeded KZT 3.9 billion.
WHAT RESULTS WERE RECORDED
The operations were carried out as part of ensuring the protection and defence of the State Border, in cooperation with the competent authorities.
During the reporting period, 2,476 instances of the illegal movement of goods and cargo across the border, worth over KZT 3.9 billion, were prevented. Furthermore, of the detained violators, 4,346 are foreign nationals.
WHAT WAS ATTEMPTED TO BE MOVED ILLEGALLY ACROSS THE BORDER
According to information from the NSC, the identified instances include:
- 39 instances of the illegal movement of narcotic substances;
- 88 instances of the illegal movement of weapons and ammunition, with 108 items of edged weapons and 2,131 rounds of ammunition seized;
- 1,808 instances of the illegal movement of fuels and lubricants (POL) totalling over 150 tonnes, worth KZT 33.4 million;
- 392 instances of the illegal movement of consumer goods worth over KZT 1.3 billion;
- 149 instances of the illegal movement of foreign currency worth over KZT 2.1 billion.
RESULTS OF THE FIGHT AGAINST POACHING AND PROCEDURAL MEASURES
In the waters of the Caspian Sea, 34 instances of poaching were suppressed. 24.6 km of poaching gear was seized, as well as 103 specimens of sturgeon with a total weight of 580 kg. The value of the prevented damage exceeded KZT 251 million.
Within its remit, the BS NSC initiated 63 criminal cases, for which investigative measures are being carried out.
In addition, 4,295 administrative cases are currently in progress. Fines totalling over KZT 38 million have been imposed in connection with these. For the remaining identified instances, materials have been forwarded to law enforcement and judicial bodies for procedural decisions.
