The volume of production in Kazakhstan's manufacturing industry over the seven months of 2026 reached 18.8 trillion tenge, an increase of 9%. The sector's share of total industrial output stood at 46.7%, exceeding that of the mining industry — 45.8%.

HOW THE BALANCE BETWEEN PROCESSING AND EXTRACTION HAS SHIFTED

In January–July 2026, the manufacturing industry consistently overtook the mining sector for the first time in terms of its share of total industrial output.

Among the regions, Aktobe Region showed the fastest growth at 10.7%, followed by Karaganda Region at 10.6%. The focus of industrial policy has shifted towards deep processing of raw materials and the production of high-value-added goods.

WHICH SECTORS DROVE GROWTH

Over seven months, output in mechanical engineering reached 3.2 trillion tenge, with sector growth of 22%. More than 96,000 cars were produced in the country.

In metallurgy, output amounted to 8.1 trillion tenge. Steel production rose by 4.1%, cast iron by 5.8%, and seamless pipes by 30.4%.

HOW OFFTAKE CONTRACTS SECURED GUARANTEED DEMAND

In the first half of 2026, subsoil users and the quasi-state sector signed long-term agreements and offtake contracts worth 466 billion tenge.

Through the Samruk-Kazyna Fund, procurement from domestic producers exceeded 2.1 trillion tenge. In January–June, contracts worth 594 billion tenge were signed, representing growth of 46%.

WHY ENTERPRISES NEEDED DIGITAL VERIFICATION

The status of active producers was confirmed through digital verification by 6,946 enterprises. More than 1,100 fictitious suppliers, as stated in the provided material, were removed from the Register of Kazakh Producers.

Domestic processors also gained expanded access to 25 types of local raw materials. Enterprises can now purchase them at discounts of up to 5% off global exchange quotations and up to 50% off export prices.

HOW INDUSTRIAL PROJECTS AFFECTED INVESTMENT

In 2026, 200 industrial projects worth 1.7 trillion tenge are planned. At the time of the original material's publication, 84 production facilities worth 337.4 billion tenge had already been launched, creating nearly 6,000 jobs.

Once operating at full capacity, these enterprises will be able to produce goods worth 1.5 trillion tenge annually, with around a third of that output earmarked for export.

Across 18 special economic zones (SEZs), 577 projects are being implemented, attracting 11.1 trillion tenge in investment and creating more than 39,000 jobs. Tax revenues from residents amounted to 865.4 billion tenge, while government spending on infrastructure stood at 507.4 billion tenge.

The growing share of the manufacturing industry reflects a shift in the structure of Kazakhstan's industrial output. According to the provided materials, this process is linked to the development of deep processing, investment in new capacity, the expansion of offtake contracts, and support measures for domestic producers.
