In the first half of 2026 in Kazakhstan, 1995 non-residential properties with a total value of 1.58 trillion tenge were brought into operation. The most expensive category of construction was office buildings, overtaking schools, power stations and car parks.
WHICH PROPERTIES TURNED OUT TO BE THE MOST EXPENSIVE
As reported by Economy.kz citing data from the Bureau of National Statistics, the construction of 240 office buildings amounted to 141.7 billion tenge. This is the largest category by value among all non-residential properties brought into use.
The bulk of the investment went to Astana, Almaty and Shymkent. These three cities account for 85.5% of the value of all new office construction in the country.
WHAT ELSE MADE IT INTO THE FIVE MOST EXPENSIVE CATEGORIES
In second place were general education schools. Over six months, 30 schools were built with a total value of 125.6 billion tenge.
In third place were wind power plants. Despite only four facilities being brought into use, their value reached 104.6 billion tenge.
Also making the top five were car parks — 74 billion tenge and holiday homes and sanatoriums — 53.1 billion tenge.
WHERE THE MOST EXPENSIVE CONSTRUCTION IS CONCENTRATED
The research shows that large investments are distributed unevenly across the country.
Almost all of the value of holiday home construction was accounted for by the Mangistau region, while new hydroelectric and gas turbine power plants were brought into use only in the Zhetysu region. Wind generation is concentrated in the Aktobe and Karaganda regions.
WHAT CONCLUSION CAN BE DRAWN FROM THE STATISTICS
The total value of non-residential properties brought into use over six months stood at 1.58 trillion tenge. At the same time, the most expensive projects are concentrated in specific regions and construction categories, and the value of properties does not always correspond to their number.
