The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) has reported that since the implementation of the Law "On Amnesty in Connection with the Adoption of the New Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan" began, 620 people have already been released from penal institutions, and a further 724 citizens have been released from further service of their sentences through the probation service.

HOW THE LAW IS BEING IMPLEMENTED

As noted by the First Deputy Chair of the MIA's Penal System Committee (PSC) Niyaz Ryspayev, since the Law came into force, the preparation of materials, their timely submission to the courts, and the execution of court decisions have been monitored daily, reports Polisia.kz.

More than 10,000 submissions have already been sent to the courts. Of these, almost 4,400 were prepared by penal institutions, and a further 6,900 by probation services.

WHAT DECISIONS HAVE ALREADY BEEN MADE

According to Niyaz Ryspayev, the courts have reviewed over 1,000 sets of materials. As a result of the reviews, 620 people have been released from penal institutions. Following their release, administrative supervision has been established over them.

In addition, 724 citizens registered with the probation service have been released from further service of their sentences. A further 730 convicted individuals have had their sentences reduced.

The First Deputy Chair of the MIA's PSC stressed that the criminal amnesty is not applied automatically. A legal assessment is carried out for each individual, and the final decision is made solely by the court.

WHAT SUPPORT IS PROVIDED AFTER RELEASE

According to Niyaz Ryspayev, one of the areas of work remains preparing convicted individuals for release. Together with local executive bodies, measures are being taken to secure employment, restore documents, and provide social and legal assistance.

For those registered with the probation service, support and monitoring of compliance with the obligations imposed by the court are ensured.
