The National Security Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan (NSC) has confirmed that a pre-trial investigation is under way following the detention of the director of the Almaty branch of KazTemirTrans JSC, Akylbek Bazenov. Earlier, information about his detention had been circulating on social media. The department has not disclosed the details of the case.

The Government of Kazakhstan has amended the procedure for applying the moratorium on the creation of quasi-public sector entities. The decree introduces changes to the rules for establishing such organisations by order of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, supplementing the procedure with a requirement to obtain positive conclusions from the relevant sectoral and antitrust authorities.

The prosecutor's office has reduced water tariffs for residents of Semey.

The Abai region prosecutor's office identified violations in the implementation of the investment programme of the state utility "Semey Vodokanal". The enterprise received income at inflated tariffs but failed to carry out some of its 2025 measures. Following the intervention of the prosecutor's office, tariffs for water supply and sanitation services for residents of Semey were reduced by up to 12% under a temporary compensatory tariff in 2026.
