The Ministry of Internal Affairs has acknowledged the problem with collecting fines from owners of foreign cars
Owners of vehicles with foreign registration were issued administrative fines totalling over 2.2 billion tenge in the first five months of 2026, yet only around 0.8 billion tenge has been paid. The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) also admitted that it does not have precise data on the number of such vehicles, as separate records are not kept.
