The Veterinary Control and Supervision Committee of the Ministry of Agriculture published an official comment after information emerged about an illegal workshop in Astana. The department reported the results of the inspection, the measures taken, and further actions regarding products of unknown origin.
WHAT THE COMMITTEE REPORTED
On 15 July 2026 together with officers from the Criminal Police Department of the Astana City Police Department and the Veterinary Inspectorate, a facility was identified where the processing of heads of farm animals of unknown origin was taking place.
During the inspection, it was established that the activity was conducted without the required permits for Category II, specifically without a veterinary and sanitary certificate and a registration number. The committee noted that this is a violation of the requirements of the veterinary legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
WHAT MEASURES WERE TAKEN
For a repeated administrative offence under Part 2 of Article 406 of the Administrative Offences Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan, an administrative fine of 20 MCI — 86,500 tenge was imposed on the individual in a summary procedure.
WHAT WAS SEIZED DURING THE INSPECTION
During the inspection of the facility, 25 head of cattle, 300 head of small ruminants, 2 horses, and 160 limbs of farm animals were discovered and seized.
According to the committee, the products of unknown origin have been sent for disposal to the city landfill at the address: Astana, Alash Highway, 68. They will be destroyed by incineration in an incinerator furnace at the State Communal Enterprise on the Right of Economic Management 'Astana-Vetservice' in accordance with the procedure established by law.
WHERE TO REPORT SIMILAR CASES
The committee reported that, together with law enforcement agencies, it will continue its work to identify and suppress instances of illegal trade in products of animal origin, as well as to ensure veterinary and sanitary safety.
