Two residents of Aksu in Pavlodar Region faced severe complications after childbirth. Both women had their uteruses removed, and one of them lost her newborn child. The patients intend to seek a tougher punishment for the doctor through the courts.
WHAT HAPPENED IN THE AKSU MATERNITY HOSPITAL
As reported by Hronika.kz, 29-year-old Damira K. was admitted for her second childbirth in February 2026. At the 38th week of pregnancy, doctors discovered a breech presentation of the foetus. Obstetrician-gynaecologist Daulet Karimov scheduled a caesarean section.
The operation ended on 18 February at 20:10. Afterwards the woman was transferred to the maternity ward, where a separate observation post was set up.
According to the patient, at night she began to bleed heavily from the area of the post-operative suture. She repeatedly called for medical staff, but, as the woman claims, no one came. Later Damira lost consciousness.
The patient said she lay without help for several hours. During this time she suffered a burn to her heel, which was next to a radiator.
WHAT VIOLATIONS THE EXPERTS IDENTIFIED
According to the expert report cited by the publication, after the operation the medical staff did not ensure the necessary monitoring of blood pressure, pulse, blood oxygen saturation and the volume of blood loss.
Tests carried out on 19 February at 04:51 showed the development of DIC syndrome — a severe disorder of blood clotting.
The diagnosis was officially established only at 09:30. After that the patient was transferred to intensive care and a blood transfusion was started.
The repeat operation continued from 11:50 to 16:15. Doctors found about two litres of blood in the abdominal cavity. The woman had her uterus removed along with the left appendages and the right fallopian tube.
Because of the massive blood loss, Damira developed haemorrhagic shock, sepsis, kidney and liver failure, severe anaemia and other complications.
The patient underwent treatment in several medical institutions, including requiring haemodialysis. Her recovery continues.
HOW THE OTHER PATIENT LOST HER CHILD
Hronika.kz also told of the case of 36-year-old Ainur A., who was admitted to the Aksu maternity hospital in September 2024. The woman became pregnant after a fourth attempt at in vitro fertilisation (IVF).
In the morning of 26 September at around 04:30 she began to bleed. The doctor on duty was Daulet Karimov.
At 05:25 the medics were unable to register the foetal heartbeat. An emergency caesarean section began at 05:50.
The girl was born alive, but was in a serious condition. She was taken to the perinatal centre in Pavlodar, where on 28 September the child died.
According to the specialists' conclusion, after the bleeding began it was necessary to immediately assess the condition of the foetus and carry out an emergency caesarean section. The experts stated that the delay could have led to severe hypoxic-ischaemic damage to the child's central nervous system.
Ainur herself also began to bleed massively after the operation. Vascular surgeons from the air ambulance service were brought in to provide assistance. The woman had her uterus removed.
WHAT THE AFFECTED WOMEN ARE SEEKING
Both patients link what happened to the actions of the medical staff and intend to seek a tougher punishment for Daulet Karimov through the courts.
According to Hronika.kz, the doctor had previously received reprimands. However, the publication does not provide information about the initiation of criminal cases, court decisions or the doctor's own official position.
