A local state of emergency (SoE) of a natural nature has been declared in the Baiganin District of the Aktobe Region following severe gusty winds. In the district centre, a metal communications tower collapsed onto the roof of a detached single-storey shop, injuring 3 people.
WHAT HAPPENED
According to the administration of the Aktobe Region, strong gusty winds caused the communications tower to collapse onto the shop building. The injured received necessary medical assistance at the district hospital.
Other facilities were also damaged due to the bad weather.
WHY THE STATE OF EMERGENCY WAS DECLARED
After assessing the situation in the Baiganin District, a local state of emergency of a natural nature was introduced.
On the instructions of the Aktobe Region governor Askhat Shakharov, the deputy governor of the region Galymzhan Yeleuov travelled to the district. He inspected the damaged facility and reviewed the progress of restoration work on power supply lines.
WHAT WORK IS ONGOING
According to information from Energosistema LLP, the company set up an operational headquarters due to the sharp deterioration in weather conditions. Restoration work to stabilise the power supply continues in the village of Karaulkeldy. Duty teams from the district power grid management and specialised equipment are working on site.
All involved services have been placed on an enhanced operational footing. Emergency crews continue restoration work around the clock.
WHAT WAS DISCUSSED AT THE COMMISSION MEETING
Chaired by Galymzhan Yeleuov, a meeting of the emergency situations commission took place. Participants reviewed the current situation, issues regarding compiling a list of damaged facilities, assessing the damage caused, ensuring the safety of residents, and coordinating the actions of all involved services.
The deputy governor of the region stated that the situation is under the personal control of Askhat Shakharov. According to him, a special commission has been formed, which immediately arrived in the district, and all those affected will receive the necessary assistance in accordance with the law.
