A new school with 1,200 pupil places is being built in Astana. The Special State Fund has allocated 7 billion tenge for the construction of the facility in the "Nura" district.
HOW THE CONSTRUCTION IS PROGRESSING
The project is being implemented under the instructions of the Head of State to develop social infrastructure and improve the quality of life of citizens.
Construction and installation works are already underway at the site. Completion of construction is scheduled for the end of 2026.
WHY THE DISTRICT NEEDS A NEW SCHOOL
The need for construction is linked to demographic growth and a shortage of pupil places. Four state schools currently operate in the development area.
The new school is expected to reduce the burden on existing educational institutions — schools No. 84, 85, 89 and 97.
HOW MUCH FUNDING HAS BEEN ALLOCATED TO EDUCATION
The construction of the school is financed using funds from returned assets. Overall, the Government has approved more than 500 social projects worth over 610 billion tenge.
The funds are being directed towards the construction and modernisation of education, healthcare, sports and communal infrastructure facilities across the country.
For educational infrastructure, 17 projects with a total value of 64.4 billion tenge have been approved. The funding has been allocated to the construction of new facilities and the creation of modern conditions for the education of children and young people.
CONTEXT
The mechanism of channelling assets returned to the state into social projects is already being applied in Kazakhstan. According to the Prosecutor General's Office, over two years, the volume of assets returned to the state through the work of the Asset Return Committee exceeded 1.3 trillion tenge. More than 1 trillion tenge went into the state budget, including 928.6 billion tenge in cash and 107.7 billion tenge in property.
Using the returned funds, the construction of 434 facilities has been financed across the country. These include education, healthcare, sports, water supply and other infrastructure facilities. Of these, 151 facilities have already been completed, including two educational facilities.
The practice of implementing social projects using returned assets also exists in the regions. In the Abai region, 26 projects with a total value of more than 50 billion tenge are being implemented. Among the completed facilities are the new wing of the Centre for Special Social Services in Semey worth 2.6 billion tenge, an extension to house an MRI machine in the Ayagoz district for 250 million tenge, and the Palace of Schoolchildren in Semey worth 7.6 billion tenge.
