Residents of the village Perevalnoye in East Kazakhstan Region (EKR) have reported that there has been no drinking water on several streets for 10 days. The district administration stated that water supply has been restored, but some villagers claim that water is still not available in their homes.
WHAT HAPPENED
According to the Telegram channel ‘HALYQSTAN’ water supply disruptions affected Rabochaya, Ambulatornaya and parts of Rudnaya Streets in the village of Perevalnoye, which is part of the Krasnoyarsk rural district.
According to residents, during the period without water, delivery was only organised on 16 July after information about the situation spread on social media. Before that, villagers claim they were forced to buy bottled water, ask neighbours with wells for help, or bring water from other streets where the supply had not been cut off.
WHAT RESIDENTS SAY
A resident of the village, Aрина Nagmetova (Aрина Nagmetova), said that her household includes a 93-year-old home front veteran, Yekaterina Dyuzhikova, a 70-year-old pensioner and a four-year-old child. She stated that due to the lack of water, the family faced difficulties in cooking and maintaining basic living conditions.
She also said that she had repeatedly contacted the village mayor, the district centre of Glubokoye and the helpline requesting organised water delivery. According to Nagmetova, utility services explained the delay in carrying out the work by saying they do not operate at weekends.
Furthermore, the resident claims that other families, including those with young children, are facing the same problem.
HOW THE AUTHORITIES COMMENTED ON THE SITUATION
According to the district administration, the disruption was caused by a failure at a reservoir due to the high level of wear and tear of the facility.
The administration stated that at the time of the comment, water supply had been restored, and specialists are conducting street-by-street inspections and targeted checks to ensure residents have water and to identify areas where water supply has not yet been fully restored. It was also noted that the situation is being monitored.
WHY QUESTIONS REMAIN
Despite the district administration's statement that water supply has been restored, some residents claim that water is still not available in their homes.
