Two residents of the Akmola Region have been detained on suspicion of demanding 30 million tenge from a businessman. One of those detained works as an MMA coach.
HOW THE INVESTIGATION BEGAN
According to the police department of the Akmola Region, information about possible extortion was received on 5 August. Law enforcement officers launched a pre-trial investigation and operational search measures.
During these operations, police identified and detained two men. According to preliminary data, they may have been demanding money from the businessman in exchange for "protection" of his business.
WHAT THE POLICE ESTABLISHED
The police department clarified that one of those detained is an MMA coach. At the same time, the men's involvement in the crime is still being established as part of the pre-trial investigation.
The suspects have been placed in a temporary detention facility (TDF). Police are establishing all the circumstances of the incident.
Law enforcement officers are also checking the possible involvement of those detained in other similar crimes in the territory of the Akmola Region.
