The remains discovered by tourists on the Severtsov Glacier in the mountains of the Almaty region have been preliminarily identified by the family. Kazakhstani woman Nelly Mikheeva stated that the body found belonged to her father.
HOW THE FAMILY LEARNED OF THE INCIDENT
As Nelly Mikheeva told Instagram, the family noticed an old Soviet frameback rucksack that was lying next to the remains. According to the woman, it was this that helped them assume the person found could be her father.
After the body was discovered, Mikheeva contacted the rescuers who were carrying out its evacuation. They passed on the number of the police investigator to her.
WHAT WAS FOUND IN THE RUCKSACK
According to Nelly Mikheeva, the investigator asked her to provide all documents and photographs held by the family. The woman sent, among other things, photos of the rucksack taken during a trip to the mountains.
Later, the investigator told her that an ID card in her father's name had been found in the rucksack.
She also said that her father had gone missing in 2007. Nelly Mikheeva thanked everyone who had supported her family.
