Relatives of 28-year-old Aidana Orazbayeva have contacted the police following the deaths of three newborn babies at the Kaskelen maternity hospital and are demanding that all the circumstances of the incident be established.
WHAT HAPPENED
According to KTK, the woman gave birth to triplets at 25 weeks of pregnancy. According to relatives, two boys died almost immediately after birth. The family had hoped the third child was in the ward, but later learned of his death as well.
Relatives claim that the woman was advised to have a caesarean section, but the delivery was natural. They also state that they received no explanation regarding the causes of the children's deaths and want to clarify all the circumstances of the incident.
WHAT THE RELATIVES SAY
According to the family, Aidana Orazbayeva was in hospital on bed rest during the last month of her pregnancy. On the day of the birth, she briefly asked for leave to go home, after which her waters broke.
Relatives reported that they received the bodies of two newborns, but the body of the third child has not yet been handed over to them. They are also demanding a forensic medical examination and exhumation with DNA confirmation of all three children.
POSITION OF THE MEDICAL INSTITUTION
According to the press service of the Karasai Clinical Multidisciplinary Central District Hospital, the pregnant woman was hospitalised as an emergency, and medical care was provided in accordance with current protocols.
The hospital explained that triplet births at 25 weeks are classified as critical conditions. According to the medical facility, all three newborns were delivered with extremely low birth weight — up to 500 grammes — and their vital organs, including the lungs and central nervous system, were not fully developed.
WHAT IS KNOWN ABOUT THE INVESTIGATION
Relatives have already filed a report with the police and are pushing for an investigation into the circumstances of the children's deaths.
The exact cause of death of the newborns has not yet been established. It will become known after the completion of the forensic medical examination.
