According to Polisia.kz, the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) is constantly coordinating efforts to solve crimes from previous years. In 2026, as a result of operational search activities, 17 cases of grievous bodily harm were solved. In four cases, the victims died.
WHAT HAPPENED IN THE VILLAGE OF SHARBAKTY
In September 2022, the body of a local resident with multiple injuries was discovered in one of the private houses in the village of Sharbakty. After a series of investigative and operational measures, the crime could not be solved immediately.
In 2026, the police conducted additional operational search activities and thoroughly examined the victim's circle of acquaintances. As a result, a suspect was identified, who turned out to be an acquaintance of the deceased.
WHAT THE INVESTIGATION ESTABLISHED
According to reports, on the day of the incident, the men were drinking alcohol together. An argument broke out between them, during which the suspect inflicted bodily harm on the victim. The man died from his injuries.
On 9 February 2026, the suspect confessed to the crime and was placed in a temporary detention facility.
WHAT DECISION DID THE COURT MAKE
In March 2026, by a court verdict in the Shcherbakty district of the Pavlodar region, the man was found guilty and sentenced to eight years in prison.
The MIA noted that work to solve crimes, including those committed in previous years, is ongoing. The department also emphasised that solving each crime is under special supervision.
