In Astana, police officers have commented on a video of a man's arrest that was circulated on social media. The footage shows several police officers attempting to detain a man, with one officer kicking him in the face. Police reported that the incident occurred on 18 June, and the detained man was subsequently arrested by the court for 15 days for disorderly conduct.
WHAT HAPPENED
According to the police department (PD) of the city of Astana, a report was received about a man who, while intoxicated, intended to commit suicide by jumping from a building roof, reports the Telegram channel "HALYQSTAN".
As explained by the Astana PD, police officers arrived at the scene and negotiated with the man, but, according to the department, he did not respond to their demands.
"The man did not respond to the police officers' demands or the negotiations conducted. To prevent harm to his life and health, as well as to avoid potentially serious consequences, the police officers took the necessary measures to detain him," the police reported.
Following the incident, by court decision, the man was arrested for 15 days for disorderly conduct.
CONTEXT
Earlier, a video of a cyclist's arrest in Kokshetau was circulated on social media. The footage showed two police officers knocking a man to the ground during the arrest.
According to the police department (PD) of Akmola Region, the incident occurred after a traffic violation. Police reported that the man refused to provide his details, present documents, or comply with lawful requests to accompany them to the police station for administrative proceedings.
In connection with this, as the department noted, measures provided for by law were applied, including the use of special means to transport the citizen to the police station.
An administrative report was drawn up against the man, and a preventive conversation was conducted. According to the department, the citizen acknowledged the violation and confirmed that he had no complaints about the actions of the police officers.
