«Otbasy Bank» has begun checking the queue for state housing. Preliminary figures suggest around 200,000 Kazakhstanis may lose their place in the queue due to failing to meet the requirements. Among the applicants were found people who own several flats, in some cases more than ten.
WHY KAZAKHSTANIS MAY BE REMOVED FROM THE QUEUE
As reported by Zakon.kz, on 22 October 2026, the director of the department of the first housing provision centre of «Otbasy Bank», Azat Ashimov, spoke about the results of the check at a conference in Astana.
Since 14 September, the bank has been carrying out an inventory of the queue without the need to obtain citizens' consent for the processing of personal data.
The check showed that some people in the queue already own housing or shares in real estate. According to the bank's representative, among those in the queue were found citizens who have several properties, and in some cases — more than ten flats.
According to Azat Ashimov, one of the reasons for possible removal from the queue is the ownership of housing as individual property. The second ground named by the bank's representative is moving abroad and loss of Kazakh citizenship.
At the same time, income level is not a ground for removal from the register.
HOW MANY PEOPLE MAY BE REMOVED FROM THE REGISTER
According to preliminary data, around 200,000 citizens may not meet the criteria for housing need.
However, this does not yet mean the final exclusion of all these people. The bank continues to verify information received from state databases.
At the time of the statement, more than 30,000 notifications had been sent to citizens. They concern people who had previously received housing from the akimat or mortgage loans.
WHAT TO DO IF THERE IS AN ERROR IN THE DATA
Some people in the queue can already see the status «Suspended» in their personal account.
According to Azat Ashimov, citizens can contact the bank for clarification and, if necessary, correct the information through the relevant state bodies.
Errors may arise due to outdated information in state databases, including civil status records and the real estate register.
Every citizen has the right to clarify and correct their data. The timeframes for correction depend on the specific public service.
If the information confirms non-compliance with housing requirements, the person will be sent a notification of removal from the queue.
