Police officers have identified a 29-year-old citizen suspected of fraud in the provision of state grant application services. According to the investigation, the victim suffered financial damage in the amount of 4 million tenge.
WHAT IS KNOWN ABOUT THE CASE
According to the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), the suspect claimed to be an employee of a consulting firm and stated that he assisted with applying for state grants. The investigation believes that the man gained the victim's trust and promised assistance in obtaining a grant in the shortest possible time.
Under the pretext of coordinating the grant, preparing documents, and covering various organisational expenses, the suspect repeatedly received money. As established by the investigation, the promised grant was not provided, and the money received was used for personal purposes.
WHAT DAMAGE WAS CAUSED
As a result of the alleged unlawful actions, the victim lost 4 million tenge.
Currently, a pre-trial investigation is being conducted regarding this incident. Police are also checking the suspect's possible involvement in other similar schemes.
WHAT RECOMMENDATIONS DID THE POLICE MAKE
The MIA urged citizens to be cautious about offers of assistance with applying for state grants, concessional loans, housing programmes, and social benefits.
The department reminded that state support measures are provided through established official procedures, and that obtaining them does not require transferring money to third parties. Citizens are also advised to verify the accuracy of information before transferring funds and to contact the police if they receive suspicious offers.
