On the territory of the state forest fund in the Abay region, a case of illegal extraction of minerals was discovered. According to the forestry department, the amount of damage caused exceeded 228 million tenge.
WHERE THE VIOLATION WAS IDENTIFIED
The Specialised Environmental Prosecution Office of the Abay Region established illegal extraction in the territory of the Bolshe-Bukonskoye Forestry of the Tau-Dalinsky branch of the RSE "GLPR "Semey ormany". The area belongs to specially protected natural territories.
WHAT DAMAGE WAS RECORDED
As a result of the illegal activity, the fertile soil layer and green plantings were destroyed, and forest fund lands were damaged.
According to the forestry department, the amount of damage caused was more than 228 million tenge.
WHAT INVESTIGATION HAS BEEN LAUNCHED
In connection with the identified facts, a pre-trial investigation has been initiated under Paragraph 3 of Part 3 of Article 334 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan ("Unauthorised subsoil use").
WHAT THE PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE REPORTED
The regional prosecutor's office reminded that illegal subsoil use, as well as conducting economic activities in specially protected natural territories, entails liability provided for by law, including criminal liability.
Each fact of causing harm to the environment will be given a legal assessment, and the issue of compensation for damage will be considered in full.
