13 September 2026 saw five forest fires registered on the territory of Kazakhstan's state forest fund. The necessary forces and special equipment were dispatched to the sites of the fires.
WHERE THE FIRES WERE REGISTERED
According to the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, the fires occurred in the following regions:
- Almaty Region — 1 fire;
- East Kazakhstan Region (EKR) — 1 fire;
- Kyzylorda Region — 1 fire;
- Pavlodar Region — 1 fire;
- Semey Ormany State Forest Nature Reserve — 1 fire.
HOW THE FIRES WERE DETECTED
The hotspots were identified in good time by state forest protection officers during ground monitoring. Another detection channel was aerial patrolling by specialists from the Republican State Enterprise "Kazavialesokhrana".
After information about the fires was received, the necessary forces and special equipment were dispatched to the sites of the fires.
HOW THE EXTINGUISHING IS PROCEEDING
Employees of forestry institutions and units of the emergency situations departments (ESD) are taking part in extinguishing the fires. Helicopters and an airborne assault team from the Republican State Enterprise "Kazaviaormankorgau" are also involved.
Work to contain and fully extinguish the fires continues. The progress of the firefighting measures is being monitored by the Ministry of Ecology.
CONTEXT
The new forest fires were registered against the backdrop of reports of natural fires in several regions of Kazakhstan. In Kostanay Region, 11 fires were registered in a single day on 8 September.
On 11 September, in Karaganda Region, 8 natural fires were extinguished over a preliminary area of 200 ha. A further 5 hotspots involving the burning of dry grass and shrubs continued to be fought.
