The editorial board of "Our Newspaper" has reported a series of complaints about copyright infringement on Instagram, which have led the platform to remove posts from the account. According to the editorial board, an unknown individual demanded $1,000, claiming they would stop sending such requests.
WHAT HAPPENED
As reported by the publication "Our Newspaper", in recent days the Instagram account has received a large number of complaints about copyright infringement. According to the account's host, Natalia Glushchenko, the messages come from different email addresses, but the editorial board suspects they may be from the same person.
According to Glushchenko, the author of the messages stated that they would continue to send complaints until the account is blocked, relying on the automatic operation of Instagram's system.
WHAT DEMANDS DID THE EDITORIAL BOARD REPORT
According to the editorial board, the unknown individual demanded a payment of $1,000. The editorial board regards these actions as extortion and states that it has no intention of meeting the demands.

The publication also states that the person who sent the messages claimed that the owners of other Kazakh accounts, including media outlets, had agreed to such terms. The article notes that the editorial board contacted colleagues, who confirmed similar incidents.
WHAT MEASURES HAS THE EDITORIAL BOARD TAKEN
The editorial board has submitted official appeals to Meta, is documenting all actions of the alleged offenders, and has filed a statement with the police.
The publication also reported that it is continuing to operate as normal and intends to seek the restoration of deleted content exclusively through legal means.
WHY THE EDITORIAL BOARD CONSIDERS THE SITUATION SIGNIFICANT
The publication notes that 90% of the newspaper's advertising revenue comes from its Instagram account, meaning a potential ban of the page could significantly impact the publication's operations.
