In the Aktobe region, a raid operation is being conducted from 10 to 14 June to identify vehicles with fake state registration plates. Over the first two days, service employees recorded approximately 250 administrative offences.

WHAT OPERATIONS ARE UNDERWAY

According to the Aktobe TV channel, an operational and preventive measure is taking place in the region involving employees of the Department of Police (DP) of the Aktobe region, transport control inspectors, and representatives of JSC "NC "KazAvtoZhol".

Law enforcement agencies and authorised services are paying particular attention to national highways. Raids and vehicle checks are regularly organised on these sections.

WHAT VIOLATIONS WERE DETECTED

Deputy Head of the Administrative Police Department of the Aktobe Region DP, Aibek Borashev, reported that approximately 250 administrative offences were detected during the first two days.

Among these, 50 cases of operating vehicles with plates that do not meet standards or were installed in violation, as well as 16 instances of driving vehicles without registration plates, were recorded. Additionally, officers identified 11 cases of driving into the oncoming lane and 6 instances of driving under the influence of alcohol.

50 vehicles were placed in a specialised impound lot.

WHICH ROADS ARE UNDER SPECIAL SURVEILLANCE

According to Deputy Director of the Aktobe Regional Branch of JSC "NC "KazAvtoZhol", Nurlan Nurgali, one of the most problematic highways remains the Aktobe — Atyrau road. It is on this route that traffic violations and breaches of transport legislation are most frequently detected.

He noted that the main goal of the raids is to identify vehicles with foreign or illegible registration plates, as well as to prevent such violations and ensure road safety.

HOW MANY SUCH CASES WERE DETECTED NATIONWIDE

According to law enforcement agencies, approximately 40,000 cases of operating vehicles with fake plates have been identified across the country.

Similar measures are being carried out in the region for the second time since the beginning of 2026. Large-scale work is underway on national highways.

CONTEXT

The issue of illegal use of vehicles and circumvention of established rules has been raised in Kazakhstan before. The editorial team of FBRK has previously published materials related to the legalisation of vehicles and violations in the transport sector.

In 2023, it was reported that the campaign to legalise foreign vehicles imported before 1 September 2022 had concluded. At that time, Chairman of the Administrative Police Committee of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), Kaisar Sultanbayev, stated that owners had been given a deadline to legally register their cars. At the same time, information was received by the editorial team about the possible illegal registration of certain vehicles imported from abroad.

Also, the FBRK editorial team had obtained an analysis of corruption risks in the freight transport sector between Kazakhstan and China. It reported on alleged intermediary schemes in the distribution of foreign permit forms and the operation of the CarGoRuqsat electronic queue system, including cases of resale of state registration numbers and queue positions.
