The court of the city of Konayev has handed down a sentence in the case of the leaders of the financial pyramid “Amanat Drive”. Two defendants have been found guilty and sentenced to 8 years and 1 year’s imprisonment respectively.
WHAT IS KNOWN
According to the Agency for Financial Monitoring (AFM), Shuken K.K. has been found guilty by the court and sentenced to 8 years’ imprisonment, while Uretbek M.S. has been sentenced to 1 year’s imprisonment.
During the pre-trial investigation, the AFM department for the Almaty region established that the pyramid attracted more than 8,000 investors, and the total volume of invested funds exceeded 21 billion tenge.
HOW INVESTORS WERE ATTRACTED
The organisers offered citizens the opportunity to purchase property and cars on attractive terms — without paying interest and with the possibility of subsequent instalments.
Obligations to investors were only partially fulfilled, and property was provided mainly to relatives and close acquaintances of the suspects.
HOW CONTROLLED COMPANIES WERE USED
In order to legalise criminal proceeds, as established during the investigation, a multi-level scheme was used involving controlled legal entities: LLP “Allo, ne kerek”, LLP “I M@RKETING” and LLP “Gold SapaPremium”.
These companies acted as fictitious suppliers of advertising, analytical services and forecasting services in the property and transport markets. On the basis of sham contracts, more than 1.8 billion tenge was withdrawn and cashed out.
WHAT PROPERTY WAS CONFISCATED BY THE COURT
Using the raised funds, the convicted individuals purchased 2 flats and 3 cars of the Lexus brand. According to the investigation, the property was registered in the names of trusted individuals in order to conceal it from possible confiscation.
The court confiscated the said property to the state revenue.
The court’s verdict has not yet entered into legal force.
