A construction crane has fallen on the site of a residential building under construction in the Nura district of Astana. One person has died, and two others have been injured.
WHAT HAPPENED
According to Qumash, the crane fell on a construction site in the Nura district. A photograph sent to the editorial office shows specialist vehicles and emergency services cars near the scene of the incident.
According to the health authority, one of the injured is in a serious condition, while the second is receiving medical treatment. The body of the deceased has been handed over to the police.
CONTEXT
The incident is the second involving a tower crane in Astana within a week.
On 27 August, a 36-year-old crane operator died when a tower crane fell on a construction site in the capital. Police have opened a criminal case over the violation of safety rules during construction works, which negligently caused a person's death.
In addition, the Department for Emergency Situations (DES) of Astana city, together with the department of the State Labour Inspectorate Committee, has set up a special commission to investigate the causes and circumstances of the crane's fall.
