The chief accountant of the Kaztalovsky District Veterinary Station was found guilty of embezzlement and misappropriation of entrusted property on an especially large scale. The Kaztalovsky District Court sentenced him to 7 years in prison.

WHAT THE COURT ESTABLISHED

According to the publication «My City», the court established that the chief accountant of the Kaztalovsky District Veterinary Station, which belongs to the Veterinary Department of the Akimat of the West Kazakhstan Region (WKR), used his official position from 2021 to 2025 to illegally obtain budget funds.

According to case materials, he accrued and transferred inflated payments to himself under the guise of salaries, health benefits, and travel expenses. The total amount of embezzled funds was 106.6 million tenge.

The embezzled funds, according to the investigation and the court's findings, were spent on personal needs, including bets at bookmakers.

WHAT EVIDENCE THE COURT EXAMINED

The defendant's guilt was confirmed by testimony from witnesses and representatives of the injured party, expert opinions, as well as physical evidence gathered during the investigation.

The defendant fully admitted his guilt. The state prosecutor requested a sentence of 8 years in prison.

WHAT SENTENCE THE COURT IMPOSED

The court sentenced the former chief accountant to 7 years in prison. It also ordered the confiscation of property acquired with criminal proceeds.

In addition, the convicted person is permanently banned from holding positions in the civil service, the judicial system, local government bodies, the National Bank, its departments, state organisations, and quasi-state sector entities.

WHAT ELSE THE COURT DECIDED

The court fully granted the civil claim for compensation of damages to the state. The former veterinary station employee is obliged to compensate for the damage caused.

The verdict has not yet entered into legal force.
