In Aktobe, there are plans to build a glass container manufacturing plant with a design capacity of 256 million units of product per year. The total investment in the project will amount to KZT 60 billion.
WHAT DECISIONS HAVE BEEN MADE
An investment agreement on the construction of the enterprise has been approved between the Ministry of Industry and Construction and Aktobe Steklo LLP. The corresponding resolution was signed by Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov.
Construction is planned to begin in Q4 2026, and the plant is to be commissioned in 2029.
What volume of production is envisaged
In Aktobe Region, there is currently no domestic production of glass products. After the enterprise is launched, up to 80% of the products are planned to be sold on Kazakhstan's domestic market, with the remainder supplied to the countries of Central Asia.
The enterprise will have automated systems for raw material sorting, process control and quality control. The production is planned to use domestic natural mineral raw materials, as well as goods, works and services from Kazakhstani producers.
HOW MANY JOBS WILL BE CREATED
The project envisages the creation of around 300 permanent jobs. Continuous training and professional development are envisaged for Kazakhstani specialists.
HOW CULLET WILL BE USED
Separately, the project plans a gradual increase in the share of secondary raw materials in production. Over the financing period, it is planned to process more than 245,000 tonnes of glass waste with its reuse.
The launch of the enterprise will create additional demand from the food and processing industry. The statement notes that an increase in the supply of domestic glass containers will reduce delivery times and improve the reliability of supply for enterprises in related industries.
In addition, the project envisages the development of the secondary resources sector — primarily the collection, sorting and consolidation of cullet for subsequent processing and reuse in production.
