The Mangystau Regional Prosecutor's Office identified a failure to comply with legal requirements in the setting of water tariffs.
According to the department's press service, the price of water subsidised from the local budget for rural residents was unjustifiably increased from 70 to 120 tenge per cubic metre.
"In this regard, the regional prosecutor's office issued an act of prosecutorial supervision in the form of a protest. <...> thereby the rights of 73,000 subscribers in rural settlements were protected", the statement reads.
As a result, the prosecutor's office secured a reduction in the amount from 120 to 70 tenge per cubic metre.
It is worth recalling that in September 2023, the state enterprise of Taraz, "Zhambyl Su", was fined 2.7 million tenge for inflating water tariffs.
