First Vice-Minister of National Economy Azamat Amrin has released data on wages in various sectors and named the industries with the lowest pay levels. According to him, these include education, healthcare, and the civil service.

WHAT DATA THE GOVERNMENT PRESENTED

According to Azamat Amrin, the average salary in the country at the end of the first quarter was around 431,000 tenge. The median salary, he noted, stood at 345,000–360,000 tenge.

At the same time, the structure of pay varies depending on the industry. Some workers earn above-average incomes, while others earn below.

WHERE THE HIGHEST SALARIES ARE RECORDED

As Azamat Amrin reported, the highest average salaries are observed in the mining sector. According to him, they amount to approximately 800,000–900,000 tenge in this field.

High salaries are also noted, according to his data, in the financial sector, manufacturing industry, as well as in transport and warehousing.

WHICH INDUSTRIES WERE CLASSIFIED AS LOW-PAID

The industries with the lowest wages include education, healthcare, and the civil service. He emphasised that these sectors employ a large number of workers. Specifically, the education system employs more than 1.2 million salaried workers.

According to the Vice-Minister, in sectors with higher salaries, the number of employed workers is significantly smaller compared to the overall structure of the labour market.

HOW THE GOVERNMENT EXPLAINED THE PAY RISES

For the overall growth of wages in the country, the issue of increasing the incomes of workers in education, healthcare, and the civil service remains relevant, as these sectors employ a large number of people.

He noted that the opportunities to raise wages for this category of workers are linked to budget funding.

Responding to a question about the risks of accelerating inflation, Azamat Amrin stated that this issue had been discussed with economists. According to him, wage increases can indeed affect price rises, but the measures provided for under the programme to combat inflation are aimed at balancing these processes and mitigating potential risks.
