WHO IS CONDUCTING THE INVESTIGATION

The circumstances of the incident are being investigated by the department of the state labour inspection committee for the NKR. The department has launched a special investigation.

A specially created commission is conducting an inspection to fully determine the circumstances of what happened. Specialists will have to establish whether the enterprise complied with safety requirements when handling dangerous chemical substances, and whether workers were provided with the necessary personal protective equipment.

WHAT THE ENTERPRISE DOES

LLP «Қазақстан Бидайы» specialises in large-scale cultivation of grain and leguminous crops, including seed production, and also develops a livestock direction.

Currently, the enterprise is transitioning to a closed production cycle. The company is investing more than 3 billion tenge in the construction and launch of its own high-tech full-cycle plant, which will produce cereals and grain flakes.

Furthermore, LLP «Қазақстан Бидайы» is among the major regional payers of value added tax (VAT). Based on the results of 2025, the enterprise transferred more than 100 million tenge in taxes to the state budget.

WHY THIS STORY IS IMPORTANT

The editorial board of FBRK has been analysing which preparations are used to control insects in different regions of Kazakhstan for the fourth consecutive year. Our investigations regularly reveal the use of dangerous chemical substances, including in urban environments, where pesticides intended for agriculture are often used.

The editorial board has repeatedly pointed out that fields and populated areas require different approaches to risk assessment. The tragedy in the NKR once again reminds us how dangerous improper handling of such substances can be, even in open agricultural areas.
